One of the last commands Jesus left with His disciples was to go and make disciples of all nations. The heart of outreach is centered on this simple command to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. The job of the church, the body of Christ, is to represent (RE-present) Jesus to the world in which we live. This means that outreach is a lifestyle and not simply an event. Outreach events are a good thing and should be part of the fabric of the church; however, outreach should be considered a part of every believer’s life. This does not mean that every person must be the evangelist leading crusades, but rather, each day we should be looking towards the world with the love and compassion of Christ and allowing the Holy Spirit to show us areas where we can reach out to others. We should be prepared to demonstrate Christ through our lives and believe that as we declare the truth of the gospel, the Holy Spirit will be present in power with signs, wonders, and miracles following. We can change the world each and every day by simply reaching out to others as we go!
